Ramos-Lorimor Family's Story

In January 2025, One Mission received a plea for help from a dedicated social worker in Colorado who had been working closely with the Ramos-Lorimor family. Their four-year-old son, Logan, had just completed cancer treatment in December, and the family was doing their best to adjust and heal as they prepared to welcome a new baby.

At a follow-up appointment, Logan’s mom confided that their hot water heater had been broken for months. For weeks, the family had been trekking through the snow to their neighbor’s home just to take hot showers. With a snowstorm approaching, they feared being stuck at home with no hot water and two young children.

Thanks to One Mission’s support network, we were able to step in and purchase a brand-new water heater for the family, ensuring warmth, comfort, and peace of mind before the storm hit. But we didn’t want the story to end there.

After months of stress, sleepless nights, and endless medical appointments, the social worker shared that Logan’s parents hadn’t had a single night to themselves since his diagnosis. So, One Mission decided to do something just for them – something joyful. Along with the new water heater, we surprised Mom and Dad with gift cards to their favorite restaurant and clothing stores, giving them a well-deserved date night and a chance to simply connect.

Because of you, families  like the Ramos-Lorimors are reminded that they’re not alone. Even in the hardest moments, your support brings warmth, comfort, and hope to families across the country, one act of kindness at a time.
