at Boston Children’s Hospital.

The One Mission Resource Room

Most One Mission programs take place inside the One Mission Resource Room at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Just like the living room in your home, the One Mission Resource Room is a place where patients and their families can come together, have fun and support one another.

It is the “hub” of who we are and what we do, every need is met for the patients and their families.

"The One Mission Resource Room eases the difficult cancer journey for patients, families and staff by being a place to learn, celebrate, socialize and support one another.

When a child is admitted, all normalcy goes out the window. School, play dates and all other routines are replaced with vital sign checks, doctor consultations and procedures. Through birthday parties, special occasion celebrations, themed family dinners and much more, the One Mission Resource Room helps to normalize the hospital experience and bring happiness into the lives of patients and their families."

Oncology patients receive a specific bead to represent an important procedure or event in their treatment. Patients string their beads together to give them a sense of achievement and help them cope with the numerous procedures and treatments they must endure.  One Mission also funds a BEADS Program for siblings to provide support to family members who are also severely impacted by this disease.

Caregiver Meals

Whatever the quickest and least expensive option the hospital cafeteria has to offer is often what parents and caregivers find themselves eating for lunch day after day. One Mission’s Caregiver Meals Program provides parents and caregivers with free, healthier options. This program is conveniently offered on the inpatient oncology floor at Boston Children’s Hospital, allowing parents to stay close to their children during their treatment while also enjoying a meal.

Family Dinner & Holiday Meals

Food brings people together, so it’s no surprise that catered dinners and lunches hosted by One Mission are always a big hit with patients and their families. Events like pizza, pasta, and taco nights offer comfort and a sense of normalcy during difficult times. Recognizing the ongoing need for accessible food beyond mealtimes, we also introduced grab-and-go snack options available throughout the day. Patients and families can help themselves at the dedicated snack corner in the One Mission Resource Room, where favorites like mac & cheese and ramen are always in demand.
